Millennium Farms at Moon Lake is the home of a Thoroughbred breeding and a cattle farm in Elm Grove, Louisiana, a small town on US Hwy 71 about 15 miles south of Shreveport/Bossier City. It is comprised of approximately 800 acres of sandy loam fertile land with a large part of it irrigated and bordered by the Red River. The farm is owned by John Turner and the estate of the late John Franks.

Moon Lake Farm is an unique and beautiful farm that lies along the Red River across from the Port of Shreveport. The Red River is a navigable waterway that is controlled by a series of locks and dams upon which large ships can travel to anywhere in the world. It also serves a recreational purpose with boating and is the home of the Board Walk, a local tourist attraction. Riverboats and casinos add to the fun as Shreveport/Bossier City is a popular public attraction with fine restaurants and hotels. The farm is not far from Louisiana Downs, where some of the best horses in the world have raced.  

The lake itself was created some 150 years ago when the Red River changed course, forming an oxbow. The natural fertility in the land is the result of flooding for many years before the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers constructed the controlled river that today provides commerce for the Shreveport/Bossier City area.

Moon Lake Farm began six years ago as a Quarter Horse Farm managed and operated by J.D. Blondin. Mr. Blondin passed away four years ago. Dr. Jim Ward, DVM,  of Nacogdoches, Texas began as a consultant and then as the managing partner two years ago. Ward now serves as the General Manager of Millennium Farms at Moon Lake.  Jerry Richardson joined the farm in 2008 and is the Farm Manager. Jerry has extensive experience in the Thoroughbred industry having been employed at Claiborne Farm and Stone Farm. Jerry has handled some of the best stallions in the world, including Mr. Prospector and  Danzig. 

Millennium Farms at Moon Lake is an affiliate of Millennium Farms in Lexington. Kentucky. Both feel that by working together we can create synergy which will help achieve our goals and objectives. Moon Lake Farm and Millennium Farms both desire to become premier establishments that are committed to excellence in their stallions, broodmares, foals produced and customer service.
